Five years ago I did my first detox by Food Matters. Part of the daily cleanse included making a “green juice” by taking one serving of Wheat Grass powder and adding it to water. For me the hardest part of the detox was getting use to drinking a big ass glass of murky green water. I know I’m not selling you on this, but I promise in no time at all my taste buds adapted and changed my attitude completely. Okay so fast forward, today I am very passionate about the benefits of drinking wheat grass every morning. I may sound kookoo crazy, but when people ask what I do to stay healthy my number one daily must have is wheat grass. Almost 6 years later I still drink my “green juice” every single morning. One scoop of this potent powder is equal to 30 shots of freshly juiced wheat grass!!
I know, not sold on it yet…I get it — sounds down right gross!! Okay so here it is. Drinking wheat grass is a quick daily detox for your body. You are sending a supercharged amount of liquid sunshine to all your cells. It is a prime source of chlorophyll, which is an important blood builder and antibacterial with natural healing properties. Besides chlorophyll, it provides amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. A few of its superfood qualities include general well-being, heavy metal detoxification, lowering rates of colon cancer, improved liver health, and better digestion. My body feels rejuvenated every morning after I drink it; not to mention it satiates those first bangs of hunger in the morning. If all of that wasn’t enough, I get to check off drinking about 20+ oz. of water first thing every morning!! After drinking wheat grass for almost 6 years it’s a habit just like brushing my teeth; I could never skip brushing my teeth and likewise I could never skip drinking my green water…my body craves it.
So maybe just maybe you’re thinking about giving it a try. I suggest buying individual wheat grass packets or a very small jar of it.
I find that Amazing Grass brand has the best tasting wheat grass. Give it about 5-10 days to be fair to your taste buds; it’s pretty gnarly in the beginning and you will need some time to get use to the texture and earthy flavor. Just remember all the benefits your body is getting from drinking just one glass a day.
Tennille Prep Method:
Add one scoop of wheat grass powder to a large glass. Fill glass with filtered room temperature water…very important!! Do not use cold water, the powder will clump up making it darn yucky. Stir. Stir. Stir. Drink using a straw…this helps get every last drop. When I’m traveling I simply add one pack to a 500 ml water bottle, shake, and drink.

I feel inspired to try it!! Can you add some powder to a smoothie or is it best to first try alone with water?
Hi darling! Yes, you can absolutely put it in smoothies, or even juice, like apple juice. Let me know how it works out–it will be so good for you!

This is awesome. I’m going to go try this out. I could use a good boost in the morning. Thanks for the information T.
I’m new to your blog and so far I love you and all your content ! I have a question about your morning routine. I also drink warm water , lemon, ginger, and apple cider in the morning. I would like to incorporate the green drink to my daily life but don’t want to do to much at one time. What do you drink first and how far apart do you drink the next drink? Do you drink the warm water with lemon , wheat grass , then coffee? Thanks in advance , Darlene
Ps I’m trying your popcorn and chili this weekend !
