Self-care comes in many forms but one that might not be so obvious for some is ORGANIZATION! Babes, I can’t over emphasize how much inner peace I get from a good home organization project but when you think about it, it makes total sense. Our lives can be chaotic. There are so many things beyond our control but for me, creating an organized space gives me back some control. It literally helps me feel grounded and instantly reduces my stress and anxiety. It’s a simple gift that brings me joy.
I bring this up because last week I was feeling completely unproductive and inefficient. I felt buried by the amount of PR packages coming in, especially after being out of town for over a week. Everything was piling up and I was totally losing track of products I needed to try for upcoming campaigns. I’m not gonna lie, I was feeling stressed out. I desperately needed to get my sh*t together. So I did babes!
I cleared my schedule for the day and gave myself a day at the Container Store to tackle a makeup organization project in my room. I purged old makeup and added more storage to basically give everything a home. Now that everything has a home I can see the things that I love and that instantly made me feel happier. By the end of the day, I felt like a new woman. A weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
With so much work on my plate that day, I could have easily told myself that I didn’t have time to take the day off. But honestly, I really couldn’t afford not to. It was costing me more in energy, stress and lack of productivity to not do it. Who would have thought that taking the day to organize would turn out to be the mental health day I needed. Darlings, do yourself a favor and tackle that home organization project that’s been bugging you. It doesn’t have to be anything too crazy. It can be something as simple as cleaning out your junk drawer. I promise it will pay off both mentally and physically.
