Happy Black History Month Babes! It’s finally one of my favorite times of the year – an opportunity to spotlight some of the Black creators I’ve been loving! Last year, I took a slightly different approach to celebrating the month. Beyond sharing Black creators, we were navigating a period of political unrest that left many of us feeling uncertain and at times, hopeless. Closer to home in LA, devastating wildfires destroyed livelihoods and left deep scars that are still actively trying to heal.

Even as another year has passed, the constant upheavals to our lives and sense of security has not diminished. Social, political, and socioeconomic turmoil persists, and many communities now face the threat of being targeted by increasingly aggressive immigration policies that go beyond what should be considered legal, moral, and acceptable. Everyday I see people who look like me, my children, my family, and friends fighting to preserve their dreams and life here in the States. Witnessing this reality breaks my heart and I have been reflecting on finding more meaningful ways to uplift one another and build deeper connections across my communities – especially my Black community.

This is why, like last year, I want to continue driving the conversation towards action and tangible ways that we can make a difference. I felt called to bring back the positive and encouraging energy of previous years by highlighting people that inspire me- people who I believe are part of the solution. To kick off Black History Month, I want to shine the light on creators who are actively trying to educate, share resources, and are fearlessly speaking out against what is happening in our country. At times like this it’s important to remember that our voices carry power. Sharing stories, resources, and perspectives helps build understanding, spark empathy, and helps create meaningful change.

Creators Making a Difference:

Jackie Aina @Lavishlyjackie @Jackieaina

A veteran in the content creator space, Jackie is the vision, mood board, and level of Boss Lady I aspire to be! Owner of Forvr Mood, content creator, homemaker, wife, etc. Jackie wears quite a few hats and is quite literally a force to be reckoned with! What I love about Jackie is that she is unapologetically herself, and is not afraid to share what she believes in, even if it ruffles a few feathers. I respect anyone who is willing to advocate for all and in such profound, thought provoking ways, and that perfectly encapsulates what I believe Jackie strives to do. Babes, I highly recommend following Jackie and learning her journey to the top because she really is a modern Renaissance woman, and is a beautiful ally to all!

Wilgory Tanjong @wilgloryy

Talk about a highly educated, intelligent, and inspirational queen! Wilgory Tanjong is Founder and CEO of the luxury handbag brand, Anima Iris and is really setting the groundwork for displaying what we can do if we believe in ourselves. On her personal channel, Wilgory is sharing golden nuggets of knowledge and advice on everything from the realities of being a business owner to ways to achieve your life goals. Her think-pieces are so carefully crafted and clearly reflect her well earned degrees. Wilgory is also not afraid to speak out against what is happening in the world, and does so with such grace and compassion as she breaks down dense topics and makes them digestible for the everyday person. I will always respect someone who has drive, beauty, and brains, and honestly babes if you hold similar values, then for sure give Wilgory a follow!

Monica Veloz @Monicastylemuse

Ok babes if you have been following me for a while now, then you know Monica is my girllll! I adore her so much and am so happy I can call her a friend! When Monica’s content comes up on my feed, I know I’m always in for a good time because her content is just that good!!! She can be hilarious, but also extremely poignant and raw at times, and I can’t help but be in awe of the realness she brings to the content creator space. I love how family oriented she is and how proud she is of her Afro-Latina roots. I learn so much from Monica about her culture and am so proud of her fierce protection of her community, as I find it to be commendable and brave. If you’re looking to follow someone that will make you smile every time you see them and just some feel good content, then please check out my girl Monica!

Jaylah Henry @Jaylahbrenae

I recently started following Jaylah and I am already in love with her content! I find her to be refreshing, full of joy, and just radiating positivity! I love how her content is so full of life, and feels like effortless fun! However, my favorite part about Jaylah has to be her bright smile! She is always so smiley and I just love anyone who can easily laugh and be joyous about anything. Another aspect of her content I admire is her sharing of her journey with her faith. I love that she shares the ways in which she practices her faith and how she uses it to spread genuine positivity and compassion. She also has not been shy in speaking out against current events, often posting to her story in solidarity. I simply think she is marvelous and if you love homemaking, family, beauty, and just overall fun content, then I would definitely check Jaylah out!

For the rest of the month, I will continue to spotlight Black content creators and Black-owned brands that I truly believe you babes should be supporting. Many of the creators I’m highlighting this year have smaller followings, but every single one of them shows up consistently, pours their heart into their work, and deserves all the success coming their way. Make sure you tune into my IG stories everyday for the daily feature and don’t forget to follow, engage and show them all some love. Trust me, that kind of support means everything and is truly the best part of this community.

Sending you so much love, light, and positive energy for 2026!
